Victoria Falls: Day 4

An early morning start found us crossing the border into neighbouring Botswana for a day cruising the Chobe River.  Switching the Zambezi for the Chobe turned out to be a great decision; we spent the majority of the day surrounded by elephants! Herd after herd came down to the river to drink, and more often than not continued into the water for a good swim.  This is one of my all time favourite sightings, and the camera felt it.  Hundreds of elephants and thousands of images later, we crossed back into Zambia, and back home to out little stretch of the Zambezi River for a delicious dinner.

Victoria Falls: Day 3

We made the most of our last morning at the falls, by again heading out early with our cameras; the rainbow really came out and played the game!  We tried some new types of images and were rewarded with some lovely results.  Our safari did not end there however; we made a move further down the Zambezi, to see a little more of what this magnificent river has to offer.  Any day here would not be complete without a spectacular sunset, and that is exactly how we ended off another great day, cruising up the river!

Victoria Falls: Day 2

A full day exploring the Victoria Falls in every way possible is always going to be a great day!  We viewed and photographed the falls from all angles; above, below, left and right, from 2 different countries in 3 different modes of transportation!  The helicopter ride was the real highlight of the day; racing over the rapids in the gorge is a thrilling experience, only beaten by circling high over the falls, and seeing them in their entirety.  This is probably the best way to fully understand the true enormity of the falls (they are 1.7km long!).  We finished the day with a gentle river safari, spotting several beautiful bird species, and of course the famous Zambezi sunset!  Long story short – the cameras had a hard day, being put to good use!

Victoria Falls: Day 1

What a start in an amazing place!  Not long after landing in Zambia, we found ourselves on a private boat heading towards Livingstone island, the place where the good Dr. Livingstone first laid eyes on these magnificent falls. We figured if it is good enough for David, it is good enough for us, and so our first view of the mighty Victoria Falls was from the same spot where the western world ‘discovered’ the falls.  Your cameras will need to brave the mist created by the falling water, but the results speak for themselves – it is an amazing place to capture images.  For the more daring, this is the opportunity to swim right on the edge of the falls, and sneak a peak over the edge!

The magic of the Tiger Safari

The Tiger Safari 2014 was truly incredible!  We were fortunate enough to see 11 tigers in 12 safaris, with a leopard thrown in for good measure, as well as 80+ bird species and the unusual soft-shelled turtle.  The cameras were working overtime, as 9 0f  those tiger sightings produced wonderful photographic opportunities. Even the langur monkeys were getting in on the act, playfully filling our viewfinders on several occasions. The Tiger Safari 2015 is inching closer, (never quickly enough though), and if we have even half the luck we had this year, we will be in for an amazing time.  I have added a video below which should give you a good idea of what you will be in for!
